One thought....
If you take Maslow's hierarchy of needs....most of us in the western world have easily got the basics covered (food,shelter, safety). Over a hundred years ago, many people worked to provide for these basic needs. This is no longer true because of mechanisation etc. this would imply that the 'jobs' out there need to start providing for the higher orders of the hierarchy...which they kind of do in places...but not enough because the nation does not appear to be full of people engaged in self actualisation. It puzzles me.
